Who's Behind The Yellow Bird?

The Yellow Bird was created by Taylor Holmes, Canadian multimedia journalist to document and share her learnings with others. Taylor has always had an insatiable curiosity for the world around her, and the cultures and creatures that inhabit it.

The Yellow Bird serves as a way for Taylor to showcase the wonders of the world and hopefully inspire others to care for and connect with each other and the environment. Her love of the arts and sciences combined with her technical skills make Taylor a strong voice, which she strives to use to help others, both human and not, tell their stories.

Background

Growing up, Taylor had a love for the natural world fed by walks with her Nana and BBC’s Planet Earth series — and this passion which stills fuels her reporting. The natural world, with all its complexity and interconnectedness, always fascinated Taylor, and she hopes to spark a similar fascination, appreciation, and care for the world in others through her work.

Taylor received her Bachelors of Communications in Journalism and Digital Media with Honours in 2023. She gained valuable experience in radio production, digital writing, and news reporting across Canada with the CBC. Photo and video journalism are Taylor’s strengths, which she uses to bring the world to the viewer, and make complex topics interesting and accessible to broad audiences.
